I wrote this song after hearing a reading of a text by a syrian poet-philosopher. In his text, he describes the drownings of so many children who try desperately to cross the mediterranean to find refuge in Europe. Rejected everywhere, they are welcomed by the ocean bed. I was overwhelmed by his reading.
At the time, I was working on Franchir la Nuit, the choregraphic piece by Rachid Ouramdane on this same subject. The chords for this song became the basis for the score I wrote for the piece.
